All I can say is that it was never caused me a problem (other than the occasionally broken mod or the bogus warning). Now, I have my own opinion about why Avast suddenly found it expedient to fail something it's been looking at for, literally, years. A couple of hours later the lab came back saying, "yes, it's safe".
